چکیده
A dedicated AMS system for biochemical 14C measurements is being built at Center for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry. The system is centered around a National Electrostatics Corporation Model 3SDH-1 1-MV Pelletron accelerator and is designed to accept two ion sources. The LLNL 64-sample Cs-sputter ion source with its zoom lens beam line is attached to one port of the electrostatic switching element. To insure efficient coupling of the source to the acceptance of the accelerator, ion-optics calculations of the low-energy injection beam line have been conducted; the results of which were used to determine the layout of the ion optical components of the beam line. Beam tests of the low-energy injection line show that beam behavior was accurately predicted by the calculations. PACS: 41.85.Ja, 07.05.Tp, 07.75.+h, 41.75.Cn

RFQ Reaction Cells for AMS: Developments and Applications
The use of Radiofrequency Quadrupole (RFQ) guided ion-gas reaction cells has been shown to be very effective in the elimination of a number of atomic and molecular isobars which have caused difficulties for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) measurements [1, 2]. However, the transformation of the equipment used for these proof–of–principle measurements into a system suitable for routine analys...

Background: Radiotherapy is an important technique of cancer treatment using ionizing radiation. The determination of total dose in reference conditions is an important contribution to uncertainty that could achieve 2%. The source of this uncertainty comes from cavity theory that relates the in-air cavity dose and the dose to water. These correction factors are determined from Monte Carlo calcu...
متن کاملQuality of Graphite Target for Biological/Biomedical/Environmental Applications of 14C-Accelerator Mass Spectrometry
Catalytic graphitization for (14)C-accelerator mass spectrometry ((14)C-AMS) produced various forms of elemental carbon. Our high-throughput Zn reduction method (C/Fe = 1:5, 500 degrees C, 3 h) produced the AMS target of graphite-coated iron powder (GCIP), a mix of nongraphitic carbon and Fe(3)C. Crystallinity of the AMS targets of GCIP (nongraphitic carbon) was increased to turbostratic carbon...
متن کاملTechnetium Measurements by Accelerator Mass Spectrometry at LLNL
Technetium-99 is a long-lived, high-abundance fission product which has been widely distributed in the environment through atmospheric testing, the nuclear fuel cycle, and nuclear medicine. It has a high potential for migration in the environment as the pertechnetate anion. At the Center for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry, methods are being developed for the detection of this radionuclide by acc...

In this paper, by considering a system consisting of a single two-level trapped ion interacting with a single-mode quantized radiation field inside a lossless cavity, the temporal evolution of the ionic and the cavity-field quantum statistical properties including photon-counting statistics, quantum fluctuations of the field quadratures and quantum fluctuations of the ionic dipole variables are...
